#1038

CENTRAL WATERS BREWING CO. - Mudpuppy Porter      Solid. Smoth, not very complex, but a really good example of the style.

#1037

NEW BELGIUM BREWING - Lips Of Faith Pluot        I had no idea what a pluot was, would I had to look it up. It is a fruit hybrid  of a plum and apricot. Sweet and fruity with a a mild tartness. Hint of alcohol at the end. Different. Decent beer, but not real memorable. Fun to drink, but not my favorite in the Lips Of Faith series.

#1036

SAUGATUCK BREWING COMPANY - Neapolitan Milk Stout       Unique. Not really sure what to else to say. Name is perfect, it actually smells like neapolitan ice cream. Taste doesn't quite cut it though for me. It has chocolate, strawberry and vanilla notes of course, but the chocolate really seemed to dominate. Flavors seem artifical and it's really sweet. Interesting, worth trying because it's so unique. Not sure I would buy it again, but if offered, I would drink it of course.

#1035

WHITE BIRCH BREWING - Small Batch Ale Watermelon Wheat      Huge watermelon aroma upon opening. Tastes the same. Very light and refreshing, a great beer for a warm summer day. Easily the best watermelon beer I have tried, if you kind find it, buy it.

#1034

WELLS & YOUNG'S LTD - Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale       Great aroma: caramel, toffee and butterscotch. Definitely on the sweet side. Unique and different, its a great after dinner dessert beer.

#1033

AVERY BREWING COMPANY - Collaboration Not Litigation Ale Batch 8     Nice representation of a Belgian strong ale, especially for the price. Tasty, if you like the style, you will enjoy this.

#1008

SIERRA NEVADA BREWING CO. - Terra Incognita 3 (with Boulevard Brewing)       It is a 55% blend of wine barrel ale, 32% bourbon barrel aged ale, and 13% fresh ale. Definitely notice the bourbon, but don't get much from the wine. Interesting. Overall, a decent beer, kind of unique, but would have liked to notice the wine a little more. I think that would have given it some more complexity. Still, worth trying if you can find.

#1007

ODELL BREWING COMPANY - Fifty Niner Brett Golden Ale      Seems flat out of the bottle. Decent nose, very fruity.  It is a little on the sweet side for me with a little hint of alcohol in the finish.  I'm not real sure what to think of this one, I usually expect great beers from Odell, but this one just seems a little off to me. Not one of their better offerings, but since it's Odell it still worth a shot.

#1006

CASTLE DANGER BREWERY - George Hunter Stout         Nice. Lots of roasted malts, hints of coffee, dark chocolate, and even some black licorice.  Smooth and easy to drink. Very solid stout.

EVIL TWIN BREWING - Molotov Lite      Decent Imperial IPA, nothing out of the ordinary, but worth giving a try.

#1004

FULTON BEER - The Randonneur Summer Saison         Nice saison from Fulton, lots of fruits and a hint of spice. Nice light session with a low 4.1% ABV make this a perfect choice for a warm summer day. A guy could drink a bunch of these pretty easily.

#1003

NEW BELGIUM BREWING - Hop Kitchen #7: Hop The Pond Double India Pale Ale    A solid double IPA with some unique flavors, but nothing real special.

#1002

NEW BELGIUM BREWING - Hop Kitchen #6: APA  (FOCOllaboration with Odell Brewing)      Decent pale ale from New Belgium and Odell. Great aroma. Lots of hop citrus, tropical fruit and floral notes. Taste is a little more muted though. After the great aroma, was a little let down, but still above average. Probably didn't help that it was past the Best By Date.

#1001

GREAT DIVIDE BREWING COMPANY - Peach Grand Cru     Belgian style ale brewed with Palisade Colorado peaches with a 12% ABV. Aroma is roasted malts  with some light peaches. A little alcohol can also be noticed. Malts seem to dominate the peaches in the taste, but the peach is a little more noticeable in the aftertaste. You also can notice a little bit of the booze. I wanted to really like it, but it just seemed to be a little bit off. Could be really good with a little tweaking, but for what a bottle costs, it's not worth it right now.

*** #1000 ***

COORS BREWING COMPANY - Coors      Well, here we are, number 1000. I was thinking of trying to find something that was pretty rare for #1000, but i decided I would go with just plain old Coors. Why? From what I can remember, this was the first beer I ever tried. Not to age myself, but back in the day (jr. high and high school years) Coors was not available in Minnesota. I remember one of my best friends and his family would go hunting in Colorado every year and bring back cases upon cases of Coors and at some point we were allowed to try it. No memory of what I thought of it, I just remember the big stack of beer in their basement.

Anyways, I will keep going and keep adding to the list, after all, there are lots of good beers still out there to try.

Having said that, for reaching #1000 I made 3 donations to 3 of my favorite charities today. $100 to each of the following: Lakes Area Humane Society, With One Breath, and Cheerful Givers.

As always, donate if you can, and if you are new to this blog, go back to the beginning for why I started it.

On to the next 1000.........

LUCID BREWING - Halucidation 2014        Belgian style tripel brewed with white grape juice. Probably my favorite beer from Lucid. Different, kind of a beer-wine hybrid, but very tasty. But, keep an eye out on it, the 12.5% ABV will sneak up on you.

#998

SUMMIT BREWING COMPANY - Unchained #18 Hop Silo Double IPA      Seems muted for a DIPA. Faint floral and citrus hops and heavy on the malts. Taste is the same. Nothing special, but a very nice well balanced double IPA. Hides the 8.3% ABV well.

#997

BOULEVARD BREWING CO. - Spring Belle Saison With Flowers      Floral nose and flavor. Notice it more on the nose. Interesting saison, guessing it's a hot or miss for most people. For me, so-so, I wouldn't seek it out, but if offered, I would try it again.

#996

CORONADO BREWING COMPANY - 18th Anniversary Ale Imperial IPA      Great tropical fruit aroma. The malts seem to hide the fruits in the flavor however. Would like them to be a little more dominant personally. Different, not your typical imperial IPA. A little on the bitter side. Decent, and happy any time I can find a Coronado Beer since they don't distribute in Minnesota.

#995

EPIC BREWING COMPANY - Lil Brainless Raspberry Ale     Great aroma; raspberries and some floral hops. Taste not quite up to the smell though. Decent beet that I could drink anytime, but it's hard to compete in the raspberry beer category with Founders Rubaeus.

#994

FULTON BEER - Barrel Aged Libertine Imperial Red Ale 2014     Bottle 1367 of 2160. Aged in whiskey barrels for one year. Very malty, not as much whiskey aroma or flavor as I was expecting, but very drinkable, another solid Beer from Fulton. If you can find it, try it.

#993

NEW HOLLAND BREWING COMPANY - Blue Sunday Sour 2015     Weird color in the glass. Faint fruit notes, thought the would be stronger. More fruit in the flavor than in the nose; some berries and cherries. A little sour, but not bad. Solid offering and priced right. Would I buy it again? Sure.

#992

FINCH'S BEER CO. - Hardcore Chimera Imperial IPA      A really solid imperial with a 9% ABV. Very enjoyable, will buy more.

#991

BALLAST POINT BREWING COMPANY - Black Marlin Porter       As solid a porter you will find, just a little on the thin side.

#990

TALLGRASS BREWING COMPANY - Ginger Peach Saison    Name pretty much says it all, but everything is on the faint side. Not my favorite from Tallgrass, but fun to try as its a little different.

#989

FLAT EARTH BREWING COMPANY - Angry Planet Pale Ale     A little on the bitter side, average at best.
